It truly takes our whole community to make Mayhew successful, and we are incredibly thankful for our dedicated volunteers. In May, we hosted over 70 amazing volunteers over four main workdays to get Mayhew Island ready for summer. We welcomed Mayhew friends new and old, alumni, and former staff, along with fantastic volunteers from local businesses like Eversource, J.Jill, Salesforce, and Bank of New Hampshire.
Our hardworking volunteers tackled several crucial projects: hauling and organizing materials for our new composting toilets being built, sorting summer camper uniforms, cleaning and organizing the camp kitchen, refinishing the basketball court floor, splitting logs and stacking wood, and cleaning and opening up buildings. The work was tough at times but having so many helping hands made it fun!
Thanks to the tireless efforts of these incredible volunteers, we're ready to welcome our first session of campers to the island on June 22nd.
If you’d like to volunteer with Mayhew in the future, please reach out to Jennifer Crane at jennifer@mayhew.org to be put on our volunteer list for upcoming volunteer events and projects – thank you!
