Personality / Social Standing:
Eric is very personable and relates well to most peers and all adults. He is very sensitive to insult or perceived insult but is able to compartmentalize and move on. He advocates for himself fairly well and is eager to please adults who take an active interest in him. He is very forthcoming about his educational challenges and is accepting of support.
There are no notable behavior patterns exhibited at school beyond general age appropriate peer engagement.
Eric is a very sweet, sensitive and likeable young man. He is generally very truthful and earnest in his engagement with peers and adults. He is very caring toward his siblings and the separation from his sibling group has been difficult. He does enjoy that his brother lives with him. He is very close with his mother and protective toward her. The family has experienced significant turmoil during at least the past few years, including loss of housing, disengagement from school, truancy from school, parental substance misuse, etc.
Eric struggles with reading academically. He has great auditory comprehension and is a very hard worker. He is adaptive and is able to show pleasure with success. He can be hard on himself at times and in the past has avoided attending school due to academic struggles. Remote learning was largely a failure for him due to lack of in person support. He was not able to manage the organization required to fully engage in remote learning. This led to loss of learning time and delayed special education services. We will be re-examining his eligibility for special education as his attendance and effort has stabilized during the past months.
Eric is an excellent candidate for the Mayhew program. He thrives with positive adult attention and is eager to participate in activities with peers and adults. He will benefit from consistent long term mentorship to support his learning goals and push for his greatest potential.
