Personality / Social Standing:

Dan has a few friendships in school. He avoids conflict with peers. He acts the class clown from time to time. His self esteem could be higher. He responds respectfully to authority. He comes across as a laid back personality who is risk averse to the point of avoiding stating his own opinions. He hesitates to defend himself. He is generally passive and a non - player in the social world of his classmates for the most part.

Behavioral Patterns:

Dan does have a dry, disarming sense of humor. Though he is disruptive in class, it is tough for the teacher to stay upset with him as she says he is a "sweet boy". Dan's lack of assertiveness, however, seems to cost him social opportunities. Dan could use a confidence boost. He needs to be supported in taking risks so that he can build confidence and be able to fully participate in life.

Remarks:

Dan has been through a lot in the past few years. He loves his father but is astute enough to realize that his father put his children at risk when driving drunk. It is difficult for Dan to reconcile these feelings. He is a sensitive boy who is also caring with his siblings. I f eel that his life has been about people pleasing and not making waves. As a result, that is the personality he has adopted. Consequently, Dan is missing out on life. He needs some boy time. He needs to let loose and mix it up. He needs to make mistakes, fail and survive. He needs to have fun, take on challenges, and grow. His world has been about navigating and finessing life. Ii don't believe Dan is as happy, confident, and capable as he could be. I truly believe joining th e Mayhew program would change this for Dan.
